Learn Tae Bo
Of course you have the possibility to learn Tae Bo in an appropriate fitness center or martial arts club. This is also the best option, because in direct training weak points are noticed directly and a team spirit is created. However, you can also learn some Tae Bo exercises on your own. Outfit and equipment for training
Tae Bo involves training with special bandages. They serve to stabilize the wrists without restricting your mobility. In addition, the bandages have another function in the original Tae Bo developed by Billy Blanks: they are worn in different colors, so that it is immediately recognizable how much experience the athlete already has. This makes it easier for the trainer to distinguish between beginners and advanced athletes.
In addition to the bandages, you don’t need any special outfits to wear. Comfortable sportswear, in which you can move well, is recommended. Also, make sure that your shoes are not too heavy so that you can perform your turns quickly and easily. It is advisable to wear shoes with shock absorbers that cushion your movements well.
Typical training content
In Tae Bo there are many elements that come from the Asian martial arts. The main difference, however, is that training is not done with an opponent or partner. Instead, each participant follows the instructions of the instructor and performs his exercises, figures and forms in or against the direction of movement – independently of the other people present. There are numerous step combinations and choreographies, which are composed of individual elements. Each instructor can also develop their own new combinations, add elements or modify existing sequences. The only important thing is that the eight basic techniques are maintained and that the defined form of Tae Bo does not change. Then a modification is also permissible.
Which eight basic techniques there are, is exactly defined in Tae Bo. Moreover, these techniques are even numbered in order. Often, after a few courses in which the participants have already learned the techniques safely, the instructor only gives the numbers. The forms are memorable and do not seem complicated at first sight. However, it is important to perform them accurately and cleanly. The rhythm must be kept and a certain amount of energy must be expended. Only then Tae Bo serves not only as a cardio workout, but also stimulates and strengthens the muscles in a very targeted way.
Basic techniques in Tae Bo
The eight basic techniques consist of four punches and four kicks. The punches include:
|The Jab:||This punch can be divided into three variations, namely the Offensive Jab for the attack, the Stationary Jab, which is executed while standing, and the Leadleg Jab, which you combine with a lunge.|
|The Cross Punch:||In this, you rotate your body around its own axis. Therefore, this punch also brings a lot of power.|
|The Hook:||It consists of a punch from the bottom up, so the classic hook.|
|The Uppercut:||It is similar to the hook, but the elbow is not extended, but remains bent the whole time.|
In addition, there are the four kicks, which are quite simple. In order for them to develop their effect, some training is required. Because you need to be agile and strong.
|The Front Kick:||A kick to the front is performed.|
|The Roundhouse Kick:||During the kick you turn once around your own axis.|
|The side kick:||This kick is done in the sideways direction.|
|The Backkick:||Here the kick is executed to the back.|
To learn these techniques, it is recommended that you enroll in a gym. Although there are also DVDs and videos for home use, outside help is always better to learn the clean practice of Tae-Bo techniques.
